Status Update Functions
Overview

Use the Status Update functions to update serial numbers and product status while maintaining consistent aggregation relationships.
Available Functions

Commission Serial Numbers to provide full commissioning details for one or more serial numbers. Commissioning a serial number affixes a designated serial number to a product within TraceLink.

Update Serial Number Status as well as item statuses and attributes for one or more serial numbers. Use this function for exception management. For example, if one or more serial numbers are not in the correct state, or the wrong serial number is sampled, this function can reset or change the serial number state from one state to another.

Update Lot Information to correct the Lot Number, Expiration Date, Bar Code Expiration Date, or Extended Expiration Date for all serial numbers in a previously commissioned lot without having to decommission all serial numbers in the lot and then recommission them with the correct information.

Set Product Release Status to "Quality Released" for all serial numbers in a specific lot that passes quality inspection. This is typically leveraged to trigger compliance reporting.

Set Market Release Status to "Market Released" for some or all serial numbers in a lot that are released into a specific target market for distribution. This is typically leveraged to trigger compliance reporting.

Take Product Sample to set one or more serial numbers to "sampled " for product(s) taken for product quality purposes. For example, if a QA person removes a bottle from a case to conduct quality sampling, use this function. TraceLink then disaggregates items from the case and updates the status of the serial number to "sampled."

Destroy Product to set one or more serial number statuses to "destroyed" in the event of product destruction. When a serial number is "destroyed" it is permanently terminated (e.g. it cannot be re-commissioned or re-used). A destroy event is appropriate if a product is damaged or expired since this results in the physical elimination of the product or case.

Decommission Numbers to set one or more serial number statuses to "decommissioned" in the event of product destruction or the disaggregation of a reusable container. A decommission event dissolves the bond between a serial number and a physical object. Re-commissioning the serial number at a later date with a different object and information is possible after decommissioning.

Set Recall Status to recall, or undo the recall of, full or partial lots from specific Target Markets (e.g. due to a quality defect or safety issue).

Set Market Withdrawal Statusto withdraw, or undo the withdrawal of, products from specific Target Markets.
