TraceLink Roles

TraceLink API Guides group messages by application. Each API Guide contains all messages available within that application. Your company's business type (e.g. CMO, Wholesale Distributor, 3PL) and role in the TraceLink Network (Owner or Partner1) determine which of these messages to develop (i.e. not all messages within this guide may fulfill your business or compliance needs).

Delivery Tracking Partners

Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs) send the Shipment Notification message to a Pharmaceutical Manufacturer to create a delivery and post a goods receipt in the Pharmaceutical Manufacturer's system. The inbound delivery generates the goods receipt, which releases product from the CMO's inventory for shipment.

Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs) send the Shipment Notification message to a Pharmaceutical Manufacturer to create a delivery and post a goods receipt in the Pharmaceutical Manufacturer's system. This message allows a CMO to communicate Bulk/API consumption data, in addition to the standard delivery shipment notification, to a Pharmaceutical Manufacturer. The inbound delivery generates the goods receipt, which releases product from the CMO's inventory for shipment.

CMOs use the Receipt Confirmation message to inform a Pharmaceutical Manufacturer of the CMO's receipt of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) or bulk materials sent from the Pharmaceutical Manufacturer. The Receipt Confirmation message is preceded by a Shipment Notification message sent to the CMO from the Pharmaceutical Manufacturer.

CMOs use the Receipt Confirmation message to inform a Pharmaceutical Manufacturer of the CMO's receipt of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) or bulk materials sent from the Pharmaceutical Manufacturer. The Receipt Confirmation message is preceded by a Shipment Notification message sent to the CMO from the Pharmaceutical Manufacturer.

CMOs receive the Warehouse Shipment Order message from a Pharmaceutical Manufacturer communicating that a delivery is ready for shipping to the CMO.

CMOs use the Warehouse Shipment Order Confirmation message to confirm picking and packing requested by the preceding Warehouse Shipment Order message and to return the packing aggregation to the Pharmaceutical Manufacturer.

CMOs use the Shipment Advice message to communicate, to a Pharmaceutical Manufacturer, shipment information that groups one or more deliveries. The transportation application in the CMO's SAP system generates the Shipment Advice message. This message is preceded by the CMO's transmission of the Warehouse Shipment Order Confirmation message to the Pharmaceutical Manufacturer containing packing aggregation information.
