View Serial Number Templates

Overview

Hover over Modules in the top menu, and select Serial Number Manager.

  • Search for the configured serial number templates of specific packaging codes. After locating a serial number template, users can edit it, view its serial number replenishment history, view its import history, or import a list of serial numbers to the repository for future use.
  • Export all serial number templates in the results table to a comma-separated values (CSV) file.
  • Export the high level template information displayed in the results table to a comma-separated values (CSV) file.

Getting Started

Serial number templates control the format (e.g. prefix, length) and parameters (e.g. sequential list, random list, imported list) for the serial numbers that the app generates.

Search Criteria

  • Packaging Code Type - The format of the packaging code (this value corresponds to the type of serial number that the product requires):

    • All - (default) All templates, regardless of type.

    • CN-ResCode - Templates that format serial numbers containing a ResCode.

    • GS1 Company Prefix - Templates that format serial numbers containing a GS1 identifier for a company based on the selection in the Packaging Code field.

    • GTIN-14 - Templates that format serial numbers containing a 14-digit Global Trade Item Number that identifies a shipping container.

    • NTIN - Templates that format serial numbers containing a Nordic/National Trade Item Number.

  • Packaging Code - The numeric value that corresponds to the packaging of a particular product (e.g. bottle of 100, blister pack of 25).

    Each Packaging Code uses only one template.

  • Description - The user-assigned description associated with the packaging code (e.g. Allergy Med 90 MG Caps 30).

    TraceLink searches Master Data Exchange for matching descriptions.

  • Status - Template status:

    • Active - (default) Templates that format serial numbers.
    • Inactive - Templates that do not format serial numbers.

      Serial Number Manager does not create, import, replenish, nor provision serial numbers in response to a serial number request for inactive templates.

  • Template Type - Templates that generate serial numbers according to the type of list (sequential, random, manual import, provisioned by packager), or templates that support automatic replenishment from external serial number managers.

    • All - (default) All templates.
    • Auto-Replenished by Other Serial Number Manager - Templates that support auto-replenishment from an external serial number manager.
    • Generated Random List - Templates that format random (non-sequential) serial number lists (e.g. 5000, 5050, 5075, 5080).
    • Generated Sequential List - Templates that format sequential serial number lists (e.g. 1000, 1001, 1002).
    • Generated Sequential Range - Templates that format a range of sequential serial numbers (e.g. 5000 - 6000).
    • Manually Imported List - Templates that support importing lists of serial numbers that an external serial number manager generates.
    • Provisioned By Packager - Templates that support provisioning of serial numbers by the packager (provisioning occurs outside of the manufacturer).

  • Target Market - The country market that the product is distributed in.
  • Packaging UOM - The unit of measurement for the package.

  • Item Code Type - The type of item code.
  • Item Code - The product item code that the serial numbers are commissioned for.
  • Serial Numbers Assigned To - Templates that generate serial numbers for a specific location.
    • All - (default) Templates where serial numbers are available for use by all Partner locations.
    • General Pool - Templates where serial numbers are available for use by all Partners in Serial Number Exchange.
    • Location - A specific Partner (e.g. manufacturing location or packaging facility).

      Only for the Auto-Replenished by Other Serial Number Manager or Manually Imported List template types.

  • Product Name - The user-assigned product name.

Results Table

  • Packaging Code - Packaging codes are numeric values that correspond to the packaging of a particular product (e.g. bottle of 100, blister-pack of 25, etc.). Packaging codes are sourced from Product Master Data, and each code can only use one template.
  • Description - The user-assigned description associated with the packaging code (e.g. Allergy Med 90 MG Caps 30).
  • Serial Numbers Assigned To - The company/location that the serial numbers are assigned to.
  • Encoding Type - The encoding types available are:
    • AI(01)+AI(21) - A 14-digit Global Trade Item Number that identifies a shipping container. GTIN-14 serial number (14 digits) or a 20-digit serial number.
    • AI(00) - A 14-digit Global Trade Item Number that identifies a shipping container. The Serial Shipping Container Code (SSCC) serial number is 18 digits long.
    • CN-EDMC - An Electronic Drug-Monitoring Code (20-digit serial number) for China.

  • Packaging Code attributes - These attributes contain additional information relating to the serial numbers. The attributes vary according to the packaging code.

    • For GTIN-14, the (GS1) Company Prefix and Filter Value display on 2 lines.
    • For NTIN, dashes (--) display.
    • For GS1 Company Prefix, the Filter Value and Extension Digit display on 2 lines.
    • For CN-ResCode, the CN-Subtype and Code Version display on 2 lines.

  • Template Type - Templates that generate serial numbers according to the type of list (sequential, random, manual import, provisioned by packager), or templates that support automatic replenishment from external serial number managers.

    • All - (default) All templates.
    • Auto-Replenished by Other Serial Number Manager - Templates that support auto-replenishment from an external serial number manager.
    • Generated Random List - Templates that format random (non-sequential) serial number lists (e.g. 5000, 5050, 5075, 5080).
    • Generated Sequential List - Templates that format sequential serial number lists (e.g. 1000, 1001, 1002).
    • Generated Sequential Range - Templates that format a range of sequential serial numbers (e.g. 5000 - 6000).
    • Manually Imported List - Templates that support importing lists of serial numbers that an external serial number manager generates.
    • Provisioned By Packager - Templates that support provisioning of serial numbers by the packager (provisioning occurs outside of the manufacturer).

  • Template Information -
    • For the Sequential Range or Sequential List types, the Starting Serial Number displays.
    • For the Provisioned By Packager type, dashes (--) display.
    • For the Imported List type, the Minimum Threshold displays.
    • For the Auto-Replenished type, the Minimum - Maximum Thresholds and the Serial Number Manager Partner display on 2 lines.
    • For the Random List type, the Min - Max Thresholds and Serial Number Length display on 2 lines.
  • Max Request Qty - The largest amount of serial numbers in a single request.
  • Qty Available - Results depend of the Template Type. See below for details.
    • For the Sequential Range, Sequential, or Provisioned by Packager List types, dashes (--) display.
    • For the Random List types, the Quantity of Serial Numbers Currently Available displays. This indicates the new TraceLink serial numbers are pending exchange with the Serial Number Manager.
    • For the Imported List or Auto Replenished types, the Quantity of Serial Numbers Currently Available displays. This indicates the imported serial numbers are pending exchange with the Serial Number Manager.

  • Status - Template status:

    • Active - (default) Templates that format serial numbers.
    • Inactive - Templates that do not format serial numbers.

      Serial Number Manager does not create, import, replenish, nor provision serial numbers in response to a serial number request for inactive templates.

Available Actions

If the Search Fields are not visible, select the blue arrow to the left of Search Criteria section.

  1. Select a Packaging Code Type from the drop-down.
  2. Enter a Packaging Code in the text field.
  3. Enter a Description in the text field.
  4. Select a Status from the drop-down.
  5. Select a Template Type from the drop-down.
  6. Enter a Target Market in the type-ahead field.
  7. Select a Packaging UOM from the drop-down.
  8. Select an Item Code Type from the drop-down.
  9. Enter an Item Code in the text field.
  10. Select a Serial Number Assigned To from the drop-down.
  11. Enter a Product Name in the text field.
  12. Select the Search button.

    The results display in the table.

  • Select the Import Serial Number Templates icon () in the top-right corner of the screen.

    The Import Templates screen displays.

  • Select the Edit Template link in the Actions column.

    The Edit Template screen displays.

  • Select the Import List link.

    The Import List screen displays.

  • Select the View Import History link in the Actions column for any row with a Template Type of Manually Imported List.

    The View Import History screen displays.

  • Select the View Replenishment History link in the Actions column for any row with a Template Type of Auto-Replenished.

    The View Replenishment History screen displays.

  • Select Export Results to CSV link or the Export Templates to CSV.
