Commission serial numbers

After packaging locations provision serial numbers from the Pharmaceutical Manufacturer, the locations can then commission those serial numbers, which associates each serial number with a physical item.

Commission numbers

  1. Hover over Modules in the top left of any screen, and then select Serial Number Exchange.
  2. In the Assignment Functions section, select Commission Numbers.
  3. In the 1. Select ServiceLink section, fill in the following field:
    • ServiceLink drop-down – Required. The Serial Number Exchange Link that includes the company that provisioned the serial numbers and the company or location commissioning the serial numbers.
  4. In the 2. Enter Commission Information section, fill in the following fields:
    1. Encoding Format drop-down – Required. The format of the serial number based on the packaging code type:
      • AI(01)(21) – An application identifier that contains the item's Global Trade Item Number (GTIN) or National Trade Item Number (NTIN) and serial number.
      • AI(00) – A Serial Shipping Container Code (SSCC).
      • CN-EDMC – A Chinese Electronic Data Monitoring Code.
    2. Location SGLN field – Required. The SGLN of the commissioning location (e.g. 7654321.54321.0).

    3. Plant Location ID field – The internal system identifier of the plant location.

    4. Production Line ID field – Conditionally required if the Encoding Format is CN-EDMC. The internal system identifier of the production line.

    5. Line Manager Name field – Conditionally required if the Encoding Format is CN-EDMC. The name of the person who manages the production line.

    6. GS1 Company Prefix field – Conditionally required if the Encoding Format is AI(00). The unique GS1 prefix assigned for the company commissioning the SSCC.

    7. Filter Value drop-down – Conditionally required if the Encoding Format is AI(00). The value that indicates the packaging level of the items.

    8. PO Number/Line field – The purchase order and line number associated with the serial numbers.

    9. Work Order Number field – The unique identifier associated with the work order.

    10. Reference Identifier field – The internal business identifier.

    11. Packaging Code field – Conditionally required if the Encoding Format is AI(01)(21) or CN-EDMC. The GTIN, NTIN, CN-Rescode, or GS1 Company Prefix assigned to a specific level of packaging.

    12. Packaging UOM drop-down – Required. The packaging level (i.e. unit of measure) for the items being commissioned:
      • Each – The smallest salable unit of the product, available only if Encoding Format is AI(01)(21) or CN-EDMC. At least one each is required for confirming lot production.
      • Innerpack/Bundle – A grouping of eaches.
      • Case/Shipper – A grouping of inner packs/bundles or a grouping of eaches if the packaging hierarchy does not include inner packs/bundles.
      • Pallet – A grouping of cases, inner packs, or eaches together on a pallet.
    13. Country Drug Code field – Conditionally required if the Encoding Format is AI(01)(21) or CN-EDMC. The unique drug code assigned to the product by the country where it is sold.

    14. Country Market Code field – The 2-letter ISO 3166-1 alpha-2:1997 code of the product's target market country.

    15. Internal Material Number field – Conditionally required if the Encoding Format is AI(01)(21) or CN-EDMC. The manufacturer's internal system identifier for the product.

    16. Lot Number field – Conditionally required if the Encoding Format is AI(01)(21) or CN-EDMC. The lot or batch number associated with the serial numbers being commissioned.

    17. Expiration Date field – Conditionally required if the Encoding Format is AI(01)(21) or CN-EDMC. The date that the product expires.

    18. Manufacturing Date field – Conditionally required if the Encoding Format is CN-EDMC. The date that the product is manufactured.

  5. In the 3. Specify Serial Numbers section:
    • Select the Upload Serial Numbers radio button:
      1. Select Choose File.
      2. Browse for and select the desired .csv or .txt file.
      or
    • Select the Scan Serial Numbers radio button and scan serial numbers:
      1. Enter the serial numbers.

        or

      2. Scan the serial numbers with an Edge device.
  6. Deselect Repeat Function After Submit to display the Packaging Events Log after selecting Submit (optional).
  7. Select Submit.

    TraceLink begins processing the commissioning request to associate each serial number with a product or package. When complete, the product associated with the commissioned serial number is ready to be aggregated or shipped. Completed requests display in the Packaging Events Log.

    • If the Repeat Function After Submit checkbox is selected, the screen refreshes.
    • If the Repeat Function After Submit checkbox is not selected, the Packaging Events Log screen displays.
