Next Generation UI Enhancements for SMTP B2B Connection

With this release, a Next Generation User Interface (UI) has been introduced for the SMTP B2B connection. This upgrade enhances layout, navigation, and user experience to ensure a more streamlined workflow across multiple TraceLink networks and next-generation digital solutions.

As a result of these updates, the SMTP (Email) B2B connection screen has been redesigned to align with the new OPUS UI standards. While all existing functional capabilities remain intact, the interface now provides:

  • Enhanced configuration accessibility

  • Smoother integration with network-level components

Support Functional Acknowledgments at the Functional Group Level for X12 Choreography

A functional acknowledgment in Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) confirms the receipt and syntactic validity of an EDI transaction. For X12 EDI, it uses transaction 997; for EDIFACT, message CONTRL. In this release, during an AS2 or SFTP connection, an X12 EDI batch organizes transactions into functional groups by type. For example, a batch with five 850 transactions and three 810 transactions includes two functional groups—one per transaction type.

Existing AS2 or SFTP connections continue receiving transaction‑level acknowledgments unless reconfigured for functional group‑level acknowledgments. New connections default to the functional‑group level functional acknowledgment when X12 is selected as the choreography type. For more information, see SMTP (Email) B2B connection.

In the B2B Messages section, each functional group now receives one acknowledgment instead of one per transaction.

Enable Dynamic Data Mapping to Resolve Message Type with Transforms

This feature enables Application Owners to automatically determine the correct message type for inbound EDI documents, such as X12 850 or EDIFACT ORDERS. The Sender (Owner or Partner) of the B2B message can configure transforms that select the appropriate transaction type based on message content or Partner rules, reducing manual setup and improving transaction visibility. Previously, Message Type was fixed in one‑to‑one mappings for each new transaction. For more information, see SMTP (Email) B2B connection.

A new field, Original Message Type, appears in the General section of each B2B Message. After a transform runs, the Message Type field shows the resolved message type, and the Original Message Type field displays the type received from the inbound EDI message. For example, when an inbound X12 850 is transformed to MPC_Purchase_Order, the screen shows X12 850 as the Original Message Type and MPC_Purchase_Order as the Message Type.
