Define roles

A solution's roles control users' level of access to tasks in the side menu, API actions, and data. For example, roles can limit the tasks available to users in the side menu or prevent users from seeing certain types of data in tables and charts. The roles that the solution uses can be assigned to users in Administer when the solution is applied to an app or network.

Select roles for the solution

Roles are one of the assets that solutions use, which means that they are added independently of a solution and can be reused across many solutions. Connect roles to the solution to determine which roles the solution uses.

Roles—with their associated permissions—can be shared across solutions within an environment, as long as the solutions are for the same app. For example, Role X can be used by both Solution A and Solution B, as long as Solution A and Solution B are both for the same app.
