Printing Configuration for [Location Name]

Smart Inventory Tracker Managers must also belong to the location's link to Serial Number Exchange to access this screen.

Overview

Select the Configure Printing icon on the Applications screen for a Smart Inventory Tracker app where My Company's Role is Partner and the Linked Entity Type is Location.

If a Smart Inventory Tracker (Warehouse Operations) Owner wants to print and commission new SSCC or SGTIN barcodes while aggregating product to new parent containers on the warehouse floor, Managers can:

  • Configure the external printer application and specific printers at the location.
  • Make specific serial number templates available for printing in Smart Inventory Tracker.

    Serial number templates can also be made available for commissioning preprinted labels in the mobile app.

  • Configure the master data elements that TraceLink sends to the external printer application, which the printer encodes within the barcode. These master data elements override the elements specified on the Printing Configuration for the Company screen.

Smart Inventory Tracker

A Company Administrator sets the information displayed below in Company Administration.

  • Name – The name that the Owner assigns to their app.
  • Partner – The location that links to the app.
  • Description – The Owner's description of the app (displays as -- if the Owner did not enter a description).

Printer Configuration

The following fields apply to all printers added to this location:

  • External Printer Application – The third-party application that formats and prints the barcode.
    • BarTender
    • CODESOFT
  • Print Request Format – The format of the synchronous message sent from TraceLink to the external printer application (enabled and required if the External Printer Application is BarTender).
    • XML
    • JSON

    Displays as read-only XML if the External Printer Application is CODESOFT.

  • Printer Server Protocol Method – The protocol method used to communicate with the external printer application.
    • SFTP
    • REST

    Displays as read-only. If the External Printer Application is BarTender, the Printer Server Protocol Method displays as REST. If the External Printer Application is CODESOFT, the Printer Server Protocol Method displays as SFTP.

The following fields apply to each individual printer:

  • Printer Display Name – The name for the printer that the warehouse operators recognize and can select in the mobile app.
  • External System URL for Print Jobs – The URL TraceLink sends the synchronous message to when the warehouse operator prints the barcode.
    • If the Printer Server Protocol Method is SFTP, include both the host and the path in the URL (e.g. "my.server.com:path/to/printer2/").
    • If the Printer Server Protocol Method is REST, do not include the "http://" in the beginning of the URL (e.g. "10.20.410.34:3245/path/to/printer1/").
  • Username – The user name TraceLink uses to authenticate the synchronous message to the external printer application.
  • Password – The corresponding password for the Username.

The following field applies to each individual printer:

  • Printer Integration Name – The name of the printer used in the synchronous message sent from TraceLink to the external printer application when the warehouse operator prints the barcode.

Packaging Code Metadata

This section includes all packaging codes assigned to the location in Serial Number Exchange. The table displays only for locations that have 50 or fewer packaging codes assigned in Serial Number Exchange. Locations assigned more than 50 packaging codes must update the metadata by importing a CSV file.

  • Packaging Code – The value that identifies which product and packaging level the template generates GTIN or NTIN serial numbers for, or the GS1 Company Prefix for SSCCs.
  • Description – The description of the product.
  • Packaging Code Type – The type of packaging code.
  • Extension Digit – The value that typically designates the packaging level within the GTIN or SSCC. This field is used as the filter value when printing SSCCs.
  • Packaging UOM – The packaging level for the template (displays only for SGTIN templates).
  • Export Packaging Code Metatdata – Export a CSV file containing all the packaging codes assigned to this location in Serial Number Exchange and their associated metadata.
  • Import Packaging Code Metadata – Import a CSV file containing updated packaging code metadata for the packaging codes assigned to this location in Serial Number Exchange.
    • CSV File – Displays if the Import Packaging Code Metadata radio button is selected.

      Use these element headers in the following order for the CSV file. All values required or conditionally required in the table are also required or conditionally required in the CSV file.

      • Packaging Code – The value that identifies which product and packaging level the template generates GTIN or NTIN serial numbers for, or the GS1 Company Prefix for SSCCs (value is non-modifiable).
      • Packaging Code Type – The type of packaging code (value is non-modifiable).
      • Description – The description of the product (value is non-modifiable).
      • Packaging UOM – The packaging level for the template (value is non-modifiable for GTIN or NTIN templates). Valid values:
        • Pallet – Cases grouped together on a pallet.
        • Case/Shipper – A grouping of inner packs/bundles or a grouping of eaches if the packaging hierarchy does not include inner packs/bundles.
        • Inner Pack/Bundle – A grouping of eaches (i.e. lowest saleable units).
      • Packaging UOM Integration Name – The value representing the packaging level of the parent container in the synchronous message sent from TraceLink to the external printer application when the warehouse operator prints the barcode.
      • Extension Digit – The value that typically designates the packaging level within the GTIN or SSCC. This field is used as the filter value when printing SSCCs (value is non-modifiable).
      • Expiration Date Format – Indicates the format for the Expiration Date (variable format) master data element, if included in the barcode. Valid values:
        • "y"
        • "M"
        • "d"
        • "."
        • ","
        • "-"
        • " " (space)
      • Homogeneous Print Template Name – The name of the printing template recognized by the external printer application. This template name is for parent containers with children that have the same product and lot number combinations.
      • Mixed Print Template Name – The name of the printing template recognized by the external printer application. This template name is for parent containers with children that have different products or lot numbers (available only for GS1 Company Prefix templates).
      • Make Available in Smart Inventory Tracker – Indicates whether the serial number template is available for warehouse operators to commission preprinted barcodes or print new barcodes and commission those serial numbers for GTIN, NTIN, or GS1 Company Prefix templates. Valid values:
        • Yes – The serial number template is available in Smart Inventory Tracker.
        • No – The serial number template is not available in Smart Inventory Tracker.

        If Make Available in Smart Inventory Tracker is set to Yes, then the maximum allowed packaging code in the metadata file is 1000.

  • In the Packaging Codes Metadata table:
    • Make Available in Smart Inventory Tracker – When selected, the serial number template is available for warehouse operators to commission preprinted barcodes or print new barcodes and commission those serial numbers for GTIN, NTIN, or GS1 Company Prefix templates. Default is not selected.
    • Packaging UOM – The packaging level for the template (displays only for GS1 Company Prefix templates with the Make Available in Smart Inventory Tracker checkbox selected). Only one template with an undefined Packaging UOM is allowed per Packaging Code. If the template has an undefined Packaging UOM, warehouse operators can select one of the following values on the New SSCC and Ship screens:
      • Pallet – Cases grouped together on a pallet.
      • Case/Shipper – A grouping of inner packs/bundles or a grouping of eaches if the packaging hierarchy does not include inner packs/bundles.
      • Inner Pack/Bundle – A grouping of eaches (i.e. lowest saleable units).
    • Expiration Date Format – Indicates the format for the Expiration Date (variable format) master data element, if included in the barcode. Valid values:
      • "y"
      • "M"
      • "d"
      • "."
      • ","
      • "-"
      • " " (space)

SGTIN Master Data Elements

  • Master Data Element – The master data field that must be included in the printed label.
    • Printer Integration Name – The name of the printer used in the synchronous message sent from TraceLink to the external printer application when the warehouse operator prints the barcode.
    • Print Template Name – The name of the print template recognized by the external printer application. This element uses the Homogeneous Print Template Name for SGTINs and SSCCs containing children with the same product and lot number and the Mixed Print Template Name for SSCCs with different products or lot numbers.
    • GTIN AI(01) – The packaging code for the parent container.
    • Child GTIN AI(02) – The packaging code for all children contained within the parent container.
    • Serial Number AI(21) – The serial number for the individual container, without the packaging code.
    • Serial Number AI(01)+AI(21) – The full serial number for the container, including the packaging code.
    • Lot AI(10) – The lot or batch number of all children within the parent container.
    • Expiration Date AI(17) – The expiration date of all children within the parent container, in the format "YYMMDD".
    • Expiration Date (variable format) – The expiration date of all children within the parent container, in the format specified by a Manager for this serial number template.
    • LSU Quantity AI(30) – The total count of eaches (i.e. lowest saleable units) aggregated to the parent container.
    • LSU Quantity (Even Digits) – The total count of eaches (i.e. lowest saleable units) aggregated to the parent container, with a leading zero added if the quantity is an odd number of digits.
    • Count of trade items AI(37) – The total count of first-level (i.e. immediate) children within the parent container.
    • Count of trade items (Even Digits) – The total count of first-level (i.e. immediate) children within the parent container, with a leading zero added if the quantity is an odd number of digits.
    • Packaging UOM – The packaging level (i.e. unit of measure) of the parent container that needs a barcode printed:
      • Pallet – Cases grouped together on a pallet.
      • Case/Shipper – A grouping of inner packs/bundles or a grouping of eaches if the packaging hierarchy does not include inner packs/bundles.
      • Inner Pack/Bundle – A grouping of eaches (i.e. lowest saleable units).
    • Packaging UOM Integration Name – The value representing the packaging level of the parent container in the synchronous message sent from TraceLink to the external printer application when the warehouse operator prints the barcode.
    • Item Code – The item code value that all children within the parent container are commissioned with.
    • Item Code Type – The corresponding item code type that all children within the parent container are commissioned with.
    • Item Information - Product Description – The description of the product in Product Master Data (where Language Code is English).
    • Item Information - Product Code – The regulatory product code associated with the product in China, or an additional product code in other Target Markets (where Language Code is English). TraceLink sends this element without a value if it does not exist in Product Master Data.
    • Item Information - Product Name – The name of the product (where Language Code is English).
    • Item Information - Generic Name – The chemical or non-proprietary name of the product (where Language Code is English). TraceLink sends this element without a value if it does not exist in Product Master Data.
    • Item Information - Manufacturer – The name of the manufacturer or repackager as it appears on the product label (where Language Code is English).
    • Item Information - Manufacturer ID – The identifier of the manufacturer (where Language Code is English). TraceLink sends this element without a value if it does not exist in Product Master Data.
    • Item Information - Strength – The strength of the product (where Language Code is English). TraceLink sends this element without a value if it does not exist in Product Master Data.
    • Item Information - Drug Composition – The chemical composition of the product (where Language Code is English). TraceLink sends this element without a value if it does not exist in Product Master Data.
    • Item Information - Dosage Form – The form the product is dispensed in (where Language Code is English). TraceLink sends this element without a value if it does not exist in Product Master Data.
    • Item Information - EMVS Dosage Form – The form the product is dispensed in according to the EU's standard set of values (where Language Code is English). TraceLink sends this element without a value if it does not exist in Product Master Data.
    • Item Information - Package Size / Spec – The number of individual doses in the pack (where Language Code is English). TraceLink sends this element without a value if it does not exist in Product Master Data.
    • Item Information - EMVS Pack Code – The way the product is packaged to be sold according to the EU's standard set of values (where Language Code is English). TraceLink sends this element without a value if it does not exist in Product Master Data.
    • Item Information - Remarks – Product-related instructions or comments not described in the other elements (where Language Code is English). TraceLink sends this element without a value if it does not exist in Product Master Data.
    • Manufacturing Date – The manufacturing date of all children within the parent container, in the format YYMMDD. TraceLink sends the Manufacturing Date element as "Mixed" if all children do not share the same item code and lot number.
    • Manufacturing Location Name – The company or location name present in Master Data. When configured, the company or location name of the manufacturing location SGLN that is populated for Each-level items is printed for homogeneous containers and "MIXED" is printed for heterogeneous containers.
    • Manufacturing Location Street 1 – The company or location street 1 present in Master Data. When configured, the company or location street 1 of the manufacturing location SGLN that is populated for Each-level items is printed for homogeneous containers and "MIXED" is printed for heterogeneous containers.
    • Manufacturing Location Street 2 – The company or location street 2 present in Master Data. When configured, the company or location street 2 of the manufacturing location SGLN that is populated for Each-level items is printed for homogeneous containers and "MIXED" is printed for heterogeneous containers.
    • Manufacturing Location City – The company or location city present in Master Data. When configured, the company or location city of the manufacturing location SGLN that is populated for Each-level items is printed for homogeneous containers and "MIXED" is printed for heterogeneous containers.
    • Manufacturing Location State or Region – The company or location state or region present in Master Data. When configured, the company or location state or region of the manufacturing location SGLN that is populated for Each-level items is printed for homogeneous containers and "MIXED" is printed for heterogeneous containers.
    • Manufacturing Location Country – The company or location country present in Master Data. When configured, the company or location country of the manufacturing location SGLN that is populated for Each-level items is printed for homogeneous containers and "MIXED" is printed for heterogeneous containers.
    • Manufacturing Location Postal Code – The company or location postal code present in Master Data. When configured, the company or location postal code of the manufacturing location SGLN that is populated for Each-level items is printed for homogeneous containers and "MIXED" is printed for heterogeneous containers.
    • Russia Crypto Key AI(91) – The encrypted key portion of the serial number's crypto code, generated by the CRPT Order Management System (OMS) in Russia.
    • Russia Crypto Code AI(92) – The encrypted code portion of the serial number's crypto code, generated by the CRPT Order Management System (OMS) in Russia.
    • User Defined Field – A value that must be entered by the warehouse operator while printing the barcode. The Display Name must reflect the field label that the warehouse operator sees on the mobile app.
  • Variable Name – The name that the external printing application requires for the Master Data Element (required if a Master Data Element is entered in the row). This Variable Name is used in the synchronous message that Smart Inventory Tracker sends to the external printing application.
  • Display Name – The label that displays on the mobile app when warehouse operators print a barcode (displays and is required only if the Master Data Element is User Defined Field).
  • Override Company Configuration – Indicates whether the configuration options can be overridden for this location. Deselected by default. When selected, the fields in the below section enable.

    If this checkbox is deselected after the location configuration options are saved, the below fields revert to the company configuration options.

SSCC Master Data Elements

  • Master Data Element – The master data field that must be included in the printed label.
    • Printer Integration Name – The name of the printer used in the synchronous message sent from TraceLink to the external printer application when the warehouse operator prints the barcode.
    • Print Template Name – The name of the print template recognized by the external printer application. This element uses the Homogeneous Print Template Name for SGTINs and SSCCs containing children with the same product and lot number and the Mixed Print Template Name for SSCCs with different products or lot numbers.
    • SSCC AI(00) – The SSCC serial number provisioned by Serial Number Exchange.

    • Include this element in SSCC barcodes to print the GTIN of the children on the label (e.g. to comply with Saudi Arabia regulatory requirements).

    • Child GTIN AI(02) – The packaging code for all children contained within the parent container. TraceLink sends this element as "Mixed" if all children do not share the same packaging code.
    • Lot AI(10) – The lot or batch number of all children within the parent container. TraceLink sends this element as "Mixed" if all children do not share the same packaging code and lot number.

    • Delivery PO Number – The PO number associated to the delivery. The PO number is retrieved from the transaction identifier list that is updated for a delivery in Serialized Operations Manager. If there is no PO number for a delivery or there are multiple PO numbers, the Delivery PO Number is blank.
    • User Defined Field – A value that must be entered by the warehouse operator while printing the barcode. The Display Name must reflect the field label that the warehouse operator sees on the mobile app.
    • Ship From Location Name – The name of the TraceLink Owner or Partner that ships the goods.
    • Ship From Address Line 1 – The first line of the street address for ship from location.
    • Ship From Address Line 2 – The second line of the street address for ship from location.
    • Ship From City – The city in which the ship from location is located.
    • Ship From State or Province – The state or province in which the ship from location is located.
    • Ship From Postal Code – The zip or other postal code of the ship from location.
    • Ship From Country – The country the product is shipped from.
    • Ship To Location Name – The name of the TraceLink Owner or Partner that receives the goods.
    • Ship To Address Line 1 – The first line of the street address for ship to location.
    • Ship To Address Line 2 – The second line of the street address for ship to location.
    • Ship To City – The city in which the ship to location is located.
    • Ship To State or Province – The state or province in which the ship to location is located.
    • Ship To Postal Code – The zip or other postal code of the ship to location.
    • (420) Ship To Postal Code – The zip or other postal code, including the GS1 application identifier, of the ship to location.
    • Ship To Country – The country the product is shipped to.
    • Delivery Number – Number that uniquely identifies the shipment.
    • Delivery Bill of Lading Number – A carrier-issued document number that serves as a shipment receipt once the product is delivered to the predetermined destination.
    • (400) Delivery Bill of Lading Number – A carrier-issued document number, including the GS1 application identifier, that serves as a shipment receipt once the product is delivered to the predetermined destination.
    • Delivery PRO Number – The transportation carrier progressive number assigned to an individual shipment.
    • Transportation Carrier – Transportation carrier that ships the goods.
  • Variable Name – The name that the external printing application requires for the Master Data Element (required if a Master Data Element is entered in the row). This Variable Name is used in the synchronous message that Smart Inventory Tracker sends to the external printing application.
  • Display Name – The label that displays on the mobile app when warehouse operators print a barcode (displays and is required only if the Master Data Element is User Defined Field).
  • Override Company Configuration – Indicates whether the configuration options can be overridden for this location. Deselected by default. When selected, the fields in the below section enable.

    If this checkbox is deselected after the location configuration options are saved, the below fields revert to the company configuration options.

Available Actions

  1. In the Printer Configuration section:
    1. Select an External Printer Application from the drop-down.
    2. Select a Print Request Format from the drop-down if the External Printer Application is BarTender.
    3. Select a Printer Server Protocol Method from the drop-down.
    4. Select Printer in the header of the table.
    5. Enter a Printer Display Name in the text field.
    6. Enter a Printer Integration Name in the text field.
    7. Enter an External System URL for Print Jobs in the text field.
    8. Enter a Username in the text field.
    9. Enter a Password in the text field.
  2. In the Packaging Code Metadata section:
    • Import a CSV file with packaging code metadata:
      1. Select the Import Packaging Code Metadata radio button.
      2. Select Choose File.
      3. Browse for and select the desired CSV File.

      or

    • Edit packaging code metadata in the table:
      1. Select the Make available in Smart Inventory Tracker checkbox for a Packaging Code.
      2. Select a Packaging UOM from the drop-down if the Packaging Code is GS1 Company Prefix.
      3. Enter an Expiration Date Format in the text field.
      4. Enter a Packaging UOM Integration Name in the text field.
      5. Enter a Homogeneous Print Template Name in the text field.
      6. Enter a Mixed Template Name in the text field.
    1. Select the Import Packaging Code Metadata radio button.
    2. Select Choose File.
    3. Browse for and select the desired CSV File.
  3. In the SGTIN Master Data Elements section:
    1. Select the Override Company Configuration checkbox.
    2. Select New Element in the header of the table.
    3. Enter a Master Data Element in the type-ahead field.
    4. Enter a Variable Name in the text field.
    5. Enter the Display Name in the text field if the Master Data Element is User Defined Field.
    6. Repeat the previous steps for any other Master Data Elements that need to be included in the barcode.
  4. In the SSCC Master Data Elements section:
    1. Select the Override Company Configuration checkbox.
    2. Select New Element in the header of the table.
    3. Enter a Master Data Element in the type-ahead field.
    4. Enter a Variable Name in the text field.
    5. Enter the Display Name in the text field if the Master Data Element is User Defined Field.
    6. Repeat the previous steps for any other Master Data Elements that need to be included in the barcode.
  5. Select Submit.

    The Applications screen displays, and TraceLink applies the saved configuration the next time a user opens a Smart Inventory Tracker function that uses a printer.

  1. Select the Export Packaging Code Metadata radio button in the Packaging Code Metadata section.
  2. Select Export File.

    The file downloads.

Only the User Defined Field element can be added more than once.

CSV File Errors
Cannot add packaging codes directly to printing configuration. Must be added via Serial Number Exchange prior to configuring for Smart Inventory Tracker in Management Remove the rows from the CSV file that contain a Packaging Code that is not assigned to the location in Serial Number Exchange.
Duplicate packaging codes are not allowed when packaging code type is GTIN-14 or NTIN Remove the rows from the CSV file that contain the same Packaging Code as another row.
Cannot modify Packaging Code Type Edit the Packaging Code Type in that row to match the Packaging Code Type assigned in Serial Number Exchange.
Cannot modify Description Edit the Description in that row to match the Packaging Code information.
Cannot modify Packaging UOM when Packaging Code Type is GTIN-14 or NTIN Edit the Packaging UOM in that row to match the Packaging Code information.
Cannot modify Extension Digit Edit the Extension Digit in that row to match the Packaging Code information.
Packaging Code is a required field Add a Packaging Code to the row.
Packaging Code Type is a required field Add a Packaging Code Type to the row.
