Smart Inventory Tracker verifies information or reports events to the Smart Event Manager APIs. For example, when a user scans a serial number in the Ship function, the app immediately sends the serial number shipment to Smart Event Manager, which then, if configured, verifies the serial number with the NMVS and synchronously reports the event.
Currently, Smart Event Manager supports:
- NMVS reporting requirements for the EU Falsified Medicine Directive for 3PLs, Wholesale Distributors, and Pharmacies / Hospitals.
- Serial number verification for all US markets.

If Smart Inventory Tracker is installed on the device with an Android Packaging Kit (APK) that supports communication through a proxy server, then all communication from Smart Inventory Tracker to the TraceLink Track & Trace Services is routed through a proxy server using HTTP protocol. - Commercially available warehouse scanning devices leveraging an Android operating system (versions 11–13). Currently, the TraceLink-validated devices are:
- Zebra MC3300, MC3300x, MC9300, MC9400, TC70x, TC72, TC77, TC8300, TC51, and TC52.
- Honeywell CT60, CN80, and CK65.
- Commercially available smartphones leveraging an Android operating system (versions 11–13). Currently, the TraceLink-validated devices are:
Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 7
Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy Xcover
Devices running on Android 8, 8.1, 9.0, and 10 OS will no longer be supported with feature enhancements and bug fixes in the SIT app after March 2024.

- SGTIN – A GS1 2D data matrix barcode that must contain the Packaging Code (GTIN), Serial Number, Expiry, and Lot.
- NTIN – A GS1 2D data matrix barcode that must contain the Packaging Code (NTIN), Serial Number, Expiry, and Lot.
- SSCC – A GS1 128 linear or 2D data matrix barcode that represents the container code. This barcode must be enabled by a Manager in Management and is not supported in for the following : American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, United States of America, US Minor Outlying Islands, and Virgin Islands.
- German PPN – An IFA 2D data matrix barcode primarily for German markets that must contain the Product Number (DE-PPN), serial number, expiry, and lot.

Transaction Identifiers – A 1D or 2D data matrix barcode containing a transaction identifier for a document that is associated with a delivery (e.g. purchase order). This barcode cannot contain a less than (<), greater than (>), or backslash (\) character. Supported formats:
- Code 128
- Code 139
- UPC-A
- UPC-E
- Interleaved 2 of 5 (Supported on Honeywell handheld devices only.)
- 2D Data Matrix

Smart Inventory Tracker and Smart Event Manager do not validate serial numbers, delivery numbers, or transaction identifiers. The app sends all serial numbers scanned to Smart Event Manager, even a duplicate scan.
If the event workflows for compliance reporting are enabled, the corresponding regulatory agency (e.g. NMVS) sends success or error messages back to Smart Inventory Tracker in real-time.

Yes, if the corresponding event workflows are enabled, the specified compliance reports will trigger after Smart Inventory Tracker sends the delivery number and associated serial numbers to Smart Event Manager with the appropriate attributes called for in the event workflow.

When product is returned by a customer within ten days of purchase, the Shipped event needs to be undone before any other action can be taken with the serial numbers.
Update and undo number status

Yes, however, Smart Inventory Tracker sends each serial number to Smart Event Manager as it is scanned. Users can set the Market and Event Type once, and then scan multiple serial numbers before resetting these fields to perform a different type of update.

No. To make serial numbers Available with the function, they must already be commissioned. Smart Inventory Tracker can update the Serial Number Status of serial numbers that were commissioned and then changed to another status (e.g. Reserved) to Available so they can be processed in a shipment.
