Record Exception

Overview

Select the RECORD EXCEPTION button on the Update Receipt screen.

Exceptions, such as when a product is received and there is no accompanying serialization information for that product, or a damaged product is received, are to be recorded when receiving deliveries.

As of the current SOM release, exceptions can be recorded in SOM. However, the exceptions will be integrated with the Supply Chain Work Management (SCWM) solution in a future Agile Process Teams (APT) release.

Getting Started

The following types of exceptions can be recorded:

  • Data, No Product – Serialization information for a product exists but the product is not physically received.

  • Product, No Data – A product is received and there is no accompanying serialization information for that product.

  • Damaged Product – A damaged, unusable, stolen, or missing product is received.

Record Exception

  • Type - The type of exception being recorded:

    • Data, No Product – The product information exists but products are not physically received. Selecting this option fetches all serial numbers the delivery that are in the Pending Receipt Item Status and displays them in the Serial Number field.
    • Product, No Data – A product is received and there is no accompanying serialization information for that product.
    • Damaged Product – A damaged, unusable, stolen, or missing product is received.

  • Serial Numbers - The serial numbers for the recorded exception.

  • Description - Description of the exception that occurred for the specified serial numbers.

Available Action

Once complete, this action can not be undone.

  1. Select a Type from the drop-down.
  2. Enter Serial Numbers by scanning the bar code.

    If the Type selected is Data, No Product, all serial numbers in the Pending Receipt Item Status contained in the delivery displays.

  3. Enter the Description.
  4. Select the SUBMIT button.

    The Confirm Record Exceptions dialog displays.

  5. Select the Confirm button.

    The confirmation message "Exception [Exception Number] is created with Exception Type [Exception Type] for Receipt [Delivery Number]" displays at the top of the Update Receipt screen along with the Exception Details table.

Error Messages

Errors either display at the top of the screen or are found in Info Exchange (may vary):

Error Message Description
Serial Numbers [Serial Numbers] are not included in the receipt and cannot be reported against the Exception Type [Exception Type]. All Serial Numbers to be recorded for Data, No Product, or Damaged Product exception types must exist in the receipt.
Serial Numbers [Serial Numbers] are included in the receipt and cannot be reported against the Exception Type [Exception Type]. All Serial Numbers to be recorded for Product, No Data exception type must not exist in the receipt.
Serial Numbers [Serial Numbers] have a status of [List of serial number statuses]. Serial Numbers [Serial Numbers] must be in Pending Receipt status to be reported against the Exception Type [Exception Type]. All Serial Numbers must be in Pending Receipt state, which is a requirement for recording a Data, No Product exception type.
Serial Numbers [Serial Numbers] have a status of [List of serial number statuses]. Serial Numbers [Serial Numbers] must be in Decommissioned or Destroyed status to be reported against the Exception Type [Exception Type]. All Serial Numbers must be in Decommissioned or Destroyed state, which is a requirement for recording a Damaged Product exception type.
