Set Event Overview
Smart Event Manager Owners use Set Event to record events (e.g. verification) and observations synchronously, as well as to record "undo" operations when events or observations are submitted in error. The API's fields and key/value pairs support supply chain and compliance objectives. The customData field supports user-defined name/value pairs and has no effect on the processing of the message. The Set Event Response includes all of the same data from the Request plus additional response fields including the TraceLink-generated eventId and processing result information (i.e. status, message, and state).
Smart Event Manager Owners who are also Consumers for Product Information Manager (Product Verification) can verify serial numbers with a Target Market in the United States or its territories. For example, if a Wholesale Distributor receives returned product from a Pharmacy, the company can verify that the serial numbers are legitimate and still saleable by sending a Set Event message with a Target Market of the United States. Smart Event Manager sends this request to the Product Information Exchange app, which verifies these serial numbers against the Pharmaceutical Manufacturer's serial numbers in Product Information Manager (Product Verification) or an external Verification Router Service (VRS).
