ESM Void Shipment Overview (EPCIS v1.2)
The Void Shipment message enables Owners to communicate from a warehouse location that a delivery will be canceled or corrected. This message uses the delivery number to identify the shipment to be voided and provides a reason for the change in status. After a delivery is voided, the serial numbers that make up that delivery are reverted from the shipped state to the available state.
For government reporting purposes, when a delivery is voided and canceled (tl:orderCancelled is set to true
), the order is discarded and shipment information cannot be corrected. If the delivery has been voided but not canceled (tl:orderCancelled is set to false
), companies may later send updated information to correct the previously submitted shipment information. The corrected voided delivery may be reported to the government as a “Corrected Shipment."
