Smart Inventory Tracker is a cloud-based product operated on a handheld device that assists with warehouse and distribution functions.

The device integrates synchronously with the Owner's instance of Serialized Operations Manager to update serial number information as users perform different functions with Smart Inventory Tracker.

Smart Inventory Tracker requests information from and sends information to Serialized Operations Manager. Serialized Operations Manager then performs the function specified by Smart Inventory Tracker.

For example, when a user decommissions serial numbers, Smart Inventory Tracker sends the serial numbers to Serialized Operations Manager, which updates their Serial Number Status to Decommissioned.

Pharmaceutical Manufacturers, CMOs, 3PLs, Wholesale Distributors, and Pharmacies / Hospitals use Smart Inventory Tracker to:

Yes. If a Manager enables implicit registration in Management, warehouse operators can enter serial numbers in Ship, Receive, Decommission, and Destroy that are not found in Serialized Operations Manager. Smart Inventory Tracker retrieves the product information from Product Master Data to register the serial numbers with TraceLink. In Ship, Decommission, and Destroy, serial numbers must be an each-level GTIN or NTIN that can be found in Product Master Data to be registered. In Receive, a GTIN or NTIN at any packaging level can be registered if the packaging code exists in Product Master Data or if a Manager has enabled registration without master data, and SSCCs can be registered with a quantity of zero.

Warehouse operators can also register unknown serial numbers with the Serialized Operations Manager repository in Register, even if the company does not enable implicit registration through the other functions.

Yes, if the company owns both Serialized Operations Manager and Smart Event Manager and users are a Member of both apps, they can switch the UI to display the functions associated with each serial number event manager.

• SGTIN – A GS1 2D data matrix barcode that must contain the Packaging Code (GTIN), Serial Number, Expiry, and Lot.
• NTIN – A GS1 2D data matrix barcode that must contain the Packaging Code (NTIN), Serial Number, Expiry, and Lot.
• SSCC – A GS1 128 linear or 2D data matrix barcode that represents the container code.
• China EDMC – A 128C Linear barcode representing the product.

• Transaction Identifiers – A 1D or 2D data matrix barcode containing a transaction identifier for a document that is associated with a delivery (e.g. purchase order). This barcode cannot contain a less than (<), greater than (>), or backslash (\) character. Supported formats:

  • Code 128
  • Code 139
  • UPC-A
  • UPC-E
  • Interleaved 2 of 5 (Supported on Honeywell handheld devices only.)
  • 2D Data Matrix

Yes. Smart Inventory Tracker disaggregates the child serial number from the original parent container and aggregates it to the new parent container.

Smart Inventory Tracker retrieves the Packaging Level and Packaging Ratio from Product Master Data to confirm the correct hierarchies and quantities of the parent containers. Smart Inventory Tracker determines how to read the packaging ratio based on the packaging level of the parent container and the child serial number. Format the packaging ratio in Product Master Data for parent containers according to the following examples:

• 1:5:20:80 refers to one Pallet with 5 Cases inside, each of which contains 4 Inner Packs / Bundles with 4 Eaches inside, for a total of 80 Eaches inside the Pallet.
• 1:5:80 refers to:
  • One Pallet with 5 Cases inside, each of which contains 16 Eaches, for a total of 80 Eaches inside the Pallet.

    or

  • One Case with 5 Inner Packs/Bundles inside, each of which contains 16 Eaches, for a total of 80 Eaches inside the Case.
• 1:16 refers to one Case with 16 Eaches inside.

If the Packaging Level is not provided and the Packaging Ratio is not configured, Smart Inventory Tracker retrieves the Container Aggregation Quantity from Product Master Data to confirm the associated quantities of the parent containers. For example, if the Container Aggregation Quantity is 2 Cases, 3 Packs and 1 Each inside, the:

• Associated quantity when you scan a case is 6.
• Associated quantity when you scan a pack is 3.
• Associated quantity when you scan an Each is 1.

Yes. If a Manager enables commissioning for preprinted labels and a warehouse operator scans a serial number that has a Serial Number Status of Encoded or does not currently exist in the Serialized Operations Manager repository, Smart Inventory Tracker sends the serial number and the aggregation information to Serialized Operations Manager, which commissions the serial number.

The parent serial number must be printed and then scanned to be commissioned. Manually entered serial numbers that have a Serial Number Status of Encoded or do not exist in Serialized Operations Manager result in an error.

Yes. If the SSCC master data element associated with the device's location or company is configured with one or more fields from the following list, then the Reserialize Product screen displays the new Delivery Number field along with the existing serial number information:

After the user enters the delivery number and selects the Submit button, a new serial number is generated, and the barcode label is printed with the delivery information. The old pallet serial number is then decommissioned. The Delivery Number is an optional field and users can still generate new labels without printing the delivery information.

Yes, if the corresponding event workflows are enabled in Company Administration, the specified compliance reports will trigger after Smart Inventory Tracker sends the delivery number and associated serial numbers to Serialized Operations Manager with the appropriate attributes called for in the event workflow.

• In Ship: Yes, if a Manager enables the creation of new deliveries.
  Deliveries shipped to Russia must be created in Serialized Operations Manager.
• In Receive and Return: No.

• In Ship and Return: Yes. When the delivery is submitted to Serialized Operations Manager, any child serial numbers associated with it are disaggregated from their parent containers.
• In Receipt: No. If a child serial number is entered for a receipt, Smart Inventory Tracker asks the user whether the entire parent container should be received. If the user selects:
  • Yes: The parent serial number and all child numbers are associated with the receipt.
  • No: Neither the parent serial number nor the child number initially entered are associated with the receipt. Child serial numbers cannot be associated with receipts without the parent container.

• In Ship and Return: No.
• In Receipt: Yes. If a Manager has enabled registration without master data, GTINs or NTINs that do not exist in your company's product master data can be entered for a receipt.

• In Ship: Yes. Multiple warehouse operators can add and remove serial numbers from a shipment at the same time in the Ship function. Smart Inventory Tracker keeps the list of serial numbers associated with the shipment up to date as other users add or remove product, informs warehouse operators if others are still processing the shipment at the time of submit, and allows the last warehouse operator working on the shipment to submit the shipment.
• In Receive and Return: No.

• In Ship: Yes. Managers choose whether warehouse operators are allowed to submit or save a shipment to Serialized Operations Manager. Managers can also allow warehouse operators to make this choice within Smart Inventory Tracker. When a warehouse operator saves a shipment, Smart Inventory Tracker sends the delivery number and its associated serial numbers to Serialized Operations Manager in an unsubmitted state, so that the delivery can be submitted in the Web UI. Warehouse operators can also suspend a shipment within Smart Inventory Tracker without saving it to Serialized Operations Manager.
• In Receive and Return: No. If partial delivery is enabled, you can receive some serial numbers in a shipment without physically receiving the entire shipment. This allows you to perform other actions, such as shipping product on the received serial numbers, without having to wait for each product in the shipment to arrive.

If a shipment was previously suspended, scan the delivery number on the Ship, Receive, or Return screen, and resume updating the delivery number. Any user can resume a delivery number.

Yes. Scan multiple serial numbers to add them to the update queue before submitting the update.

• Commission: Sometimes, if the corresponding workflows are enabled in Company Administration. This function uses the Update Number Status message in Serialized Operations Manager, which is primarily for data correction, and only generates a compliance report in the following situations:
  • If a serial number was previously reported to the EU Hub as Locked and its Item Status is updated to Available, TraceLink generates an Active - Update Product Pack State report.
  • If a serial number was previously reported to the EU Hub as Sampled and its Item Status is updated to Available, TraceLink generates an Active - Update Product Pack State report.
  • If a serial number was previously reported to the EU Hub as Active and its Item Status is updated to Under Investigation, TraceLink triggers a Locked - Update Product Pack State report.
• Decommission, Destroy, and Sample: Yes, if the corresponding event workflows are enabled in Company Administration, the specified compliance reports will trigger after Smart Inventory Tracker sends the decommissioning, destruction, or sampling information to Serialized Operations Manager.

No. To make serial numbers Available with the Update Number Status function, they must already be commissioned. Smart Inventory Tracker can update the Serial Number Status of serial numbers that were commissioned and then changed to another status (e.g. Reserved) to Available so they can be processed in a shipment.

Serial numbers should be decommissioned when the number might be reused in the future because the physical product is not being destroyed.

For example, a serial number might be decommissioned because the product is misplaced or under investigation. If the product is physically destroyed, then the serial number should also be destroyed.
