Troubleshooting
Select any of the following drop-downs for error messages and troubleshooting help under the corresponding screen title.
Select any screen title and the corresponding help screen displays with more information (e.g. field descriptions, usage context, requirements).

Enter a Name. | Name is a required field. |
Invalid characters entered. Spaces are not allowed. | The Name cannot contain a space. |
Enter a unique device Name for the location. | Each device registered at a single location must have a unique Name. |
Invalid characters entered. | The Name must contain only alphanumeric characters in addition to the following: _ . , @ / : # - |
Enter an Identifier. | Identifier is a required field. |
Invalid Identifier entered. | The Identifier must be 6 sets of 2 characters separated by colons or hyphens (e.g. 00:23:68:CF:A4:D8 or 00-23-68-CF-A4-D8). Acceptable characters are numbers 0-9 and letters A-F. |
[Identifier value] has already been assigned to another device. | The Identifier must be unique across all devices registered with TraceLink. |
Enter a Type. | Type is a required field. |
Enter a Make. | Make is a required field. |

Request New Audit Trail Exports

Error Message | Description |

Date range must be 31 days or less. | The date range specified for the audit trail cannot be more than 31 days. Change one of the dates so the range is equal to or less than 31 days. |

Identifier cannot be removed because the entity subscribes to the following Apps: [App Name (one per row)] | A row represents the only identifier for a location that is currently linked to an app. |
Identifier value required | An ID Type is selected in the dropdown and/or a value is entered in the State/Province, but an ID Value is not entered. |
Identifier type required | An ID Value and/or State/Province is entered, but an ID Type is not selected. |
This identifier has been assigned to another entity. | Identifier is not unique by the combination of Type-State/Province-Value across all of the company's configured Trade Partners . |

Error Message | Description |

Identifier [Identifier Type] [ID Value] cannot be found on your Manage Partners identifiers list | The uploaded file contains an Identifier Type with a value that does not match the value listed for that identifier in Manage Partners. |
A Company Name must be provided for each row. | An entry in the uploaded file does not have a CompanyName value. |
Identifier Type and Value is listed in the CSV file more than once. The recipient list cannot contain duplicate Identifier Type and Values. | The uploaded file contains the same Identifier Type and Value pairing more than once. |
Identifier type [identifier type] is not supported for this feature | The uploaded file contains an Identifier Type that is invalid. |
Additional Troubleshooting Information
Opening an exported CSV file in Excel results in a loss of data or improper formatting (e.g. not recognizing application identifiers, dropping leading zeroes, scientific notation conversion). Select a drop-down below for instructions on exporting a CSV file in TraceLink or MS Excel.

- Select the Export Results to CSV link.
The file downloads (location varies by user preference).
- Select Save.
- Select a location on the browser.
Do not select "Open".

- Open a blank Excel worksheet.
- Select Data > From Text.
- Choose the CSV file in the "Import Text File" window.
- Select Import:
- Select the Delimited option and then Next.
- Deselect the default Tab option. Either:
- Select the Comma option, and then Next.
- Select the Period option, and then Next.
- Select all columns and the Text option, then Finish.
- In the "Import Data" window, select the New worksheet option and then OK.
- Select File > Save As and keep the default Save as type set to Text (Tab delimited).
The file now displays the correct data and formatting.
CSV downloads sort by default and do not reflect UI manipulation/sortation.
Do not open the recently saved CSV file.
