Customize verification responses

The US DSCSA gives Producers some flexibility regarding how much information they choose to share with the downstream supply chain. These verification response rules allow Producers to customize the information shared for several different scenarios.

Only Producers can set these data rules.

Verification responses

  1. Hover over the User profile in the top right of any screen, and then select Management.
  2. Select Product Information Manager Data Rules from the Management landing page.

    Expand the Management Navigation in the header of any screen, and select Product Information Manager Data Rules.

  3. In the Custom Rules table:
    1. Deselect the Yes checkbox for Verify Expiration Day if all products being verified must have only a month and year in the expiration date that matches your company's records (optional, defaults to selected).
    2. Deselect the Yes checkbox for Send Failure Reason if invalid verification responses do not need to include the reason for the failure (optional, defaults to selected).
    3. Deselect the Yes checkbox for Send Expired Status if verification responses do not need to indicate when product is expired (optional, defaults to selected).
    4. Deselect the Valid if Expired checkbox for Send Expired Status if the verification responses for expired product must return as invalid (optional, defaults to selected).

      If the Valid if Expired checkbox is selected, the Yes checkbox must be selected for Send Expired Status as well.

    5. Deselect the Yes checkbox for Send Recalled Status if verification responses do not need to indicate when the product has been recalled by your company (optional, defaults to selected).
    6. Deselect the Valid if Recalled checkbox for Send Recalled Status if the verification responses for recalled product must return as invalid (optional, defaults to selected).

      If the Valid if Recalled checkbox is selected, the Yes checkbox must be selected for Send Recalled Status as well.

    7. Select the Under Investigation checkbox for Suspect Item Statuses to indicate that products with that status must be marked as suspect by your company.
    8. Select the Suspect Serial Number Statuses checkboxes that indicate which products must be marked as suspect by your company:
      • Decommissioned – Decommissioned serial numbers are marked as suspect in verification responses.
      • Destroyed – Destroyed serial numbers are marked as suspect in verification responses.
    9. Deselect the Yes checkbox for Send Suspect Status if all verification responses do not need to indicate when the product has been marked as suspect by your company (optional, defaults to selected).
    10. Select the Illegitimate Serial Number Statuses checkboxes that indicate which products must be marked as illegitimate by your company:
      • Decommissioned – Decommissioned serial numbers are marked as illegitimate in verification responses.
      • Destroyed – Destroyed serial numbers are marked as illegitimate in verification responses.
    11. Deselect the Yes checkbox for Send Illegitimate Status if all verification responses do not need to indicate when the product has been marked as illegitimate by your company (optional, defaults to selected).

    Select or deselect the checkbox at the top of the table to enable or disable all of the rules above at once.

  4. Select Save.

    The Product Information Manager Data Rules screen refreshes with the new response rules.

    TraceLink applies the custom rules to all future verification responses. The custom rules applied to each verification response display in the verification history report, which can be downloaded in Product Information Exchange.
