Shipment Notification Overview
The Shipment Notification message informs Wholesale Distributors of the shipment information submitted by a Supplier to a government entity, when the Supplier has processed the shipment of the goods for the purpose of compliance reporting. This message provides information for each product that is part of the shipment.
The file can contain information about serialized or non-serialized products. Products are grouped by Product Code/Lot/Quantity/Unit Price or Product Code/Quantity/Unit Price if a non-serialized product does not have a lot number. Serial numbers for serialized product are recorded in the "Picked items" or "Serialized aggregation" group. The Serialized aggregation group contains the full packing hierarchy for the product.
This message also supports a use case in which multiple batches of the same GTIN are sent within the same shipment through the use of Commissioning Events. Previously, there was no way to associate serial numbers to lots due to ItemDetails and serial numbers being in completely different segments with only the GTIN connecting them.
