Increment Transaction History Quantity Overview
The Increment Transaction History Quantity message is the "next generation" of the Update Transaction message and is used for incrementing incorrect inventory quantities associated with Transaction Histories (THs) due to inventory loss or damage. Previously, inventory updates directly changed inventory quantities associated with THs in the database. This did not provide a clear history of how the inventory was changed, which complicated reconciliation between inventory reported by TraceLink and external ERP systems.
Instead of adjusting the quantity associated with a TH directly in the database (as was previously done), this message treats each adjustment separately and creates a new TH record for each change. This improves traceability and leaves a TH artifact for each quantity decrement in Inventory Reports which is fully searchable. Reference Identifiers may also be associated with the new "child" THs in order to find an exact TH match when performing a pick operation in the future.
Lot Number and NDC are mandatory fields in order to help pinpoint an exact match for a TH, allowing for increased accuracy.
