Reset Container Aggregation

Overview

Select the Pack and Repack drop-down in the left-hand panel.

Replace all items in a container by disaggregating the current items and then aggregating a new set of items.

Resetting a container's aggregation allows its contents to be replaced without having to manually disaggregate of all items from the container and then separately aggregate the new items to the container.

Getting Started

To expedite this action, have the serial number and container information readily available for each disaggregation event.

To perform aggregation operations, serial numbers must be "Commissioned" and in one of the following states:

  • Available
  • Picked
  • Blocked

When scanning, entering, or uploading a file to populate serial numbers, each number must be:

  • On a separate row.
  • Without any special characters.
  • In one of the formats below:

  • Innerpacks
  • Bundles
  • Cases and Shippers

The format is the AI(01)(21) serial number in barcode format:

  1. First is the 01 Application Identifier
  2. Followed by the GTIN-14 number
  3. Followed by the 21 Application Identifier
  4. Followed by the serial number

    Example: 010088202401033921725368249416

Used for:

  • Pallets
  • Mixed cases

The format is the AI(00) serial number in barcode format:

  1. First is the 00 Application Identifier
  2. Followed by the SSCC-18 code

    Example: 00008820200000050254

Used for:

  • Items
  • Innerpacks
  • Bundles
  • Cases and Shippers

The format is the full 20-digit China serial number, as in this example: 81102302020117515452

Reset Container Aggregation

  • Container Serial Number - The serial number of the container where the items are disaggregating. The container can be a pallet, case/shipper or innerpack/bundle.
  • Serial Numbers - The serial number(s)of the items that are aggregating into the container (scanned, entered, or uploaded).
    • Scan Serial Numbers – Scan or type the serial numbers in the text box.

      Maximum of 30,000 characters.

    • Upload Serial Numbers From File – Upload a file with the serial numbers.

      The file must include only the serial numbers, no headings. Limit of one file per session. File size limit is 50 MB.

  • Do not perform operation if any child items are aggregated to another container - If selected, TraceLink does not perform the function if any of the specified Child Serial Numbers are already aggregated to another container.

Available Actions

  1. Select the desired entity in the Show Data From drop-down at the top of the screen.
  2. Enter the Container Serial Number to disaggregate the child serial numbers from in the text field.
  3. Enter the Child Serial Numbers by selecting one of the following:

    • Select Upload Serial Numbers from File:
      1. Select the Choose File button.
      2. Browse for and select the desired CSV file.

        The CSV file cannot contain headers.

    • Select Scan Serial Numbers:
      • Enter the serial numbers in the text field.

        or

      • Scan the serial numbers in the text field with an Edge device.

  1. Select or deselect the Do not perform operation if any child items are aggregated to another container checkbox.
  2. Select the Submit button.

    The screen refreshes with the confirmation message "The [Number of Child Numbers] serial number(s) you entered have been disaggregated to container [Container Serial Number]."

Error Messages

Errors either display at the top of the screen or are found in Info Exchange (may vary):

Error Message Description
The container has no children. This is not an error, since the reset action may be aggregating the child items to a new container.
Serial number [Serial Number] does not exist. The serial number does not exist.
Serial number [Serial Number] is not commissioned. The serial number is not commissioned, which is a requirement of this function.
Cannot aggregate serial number [Serial Number] with item state [Serial Number Status]. The item state must be Available, Blocked, or Picked. The serial number is not in Available, Picked, or Blocked state, which is a requirement of this function.
Serial number [Serial Number] is already aggregated to [Actual Parent Serial Number]. The serial number has another parent. This error applies only when the "Do not perform operation if any child items are aggregated to another container" checkbox is checked.
Cannot aggregate serial number <Serial Number> with UOM <PackagingLevelUOM> into serial number<ParentSerial> with UOM <PackagingLevelUOM>. This error displays when there is an attempt to create an invalid packing hierarchy by aggregating container into a subordinate item.
Cannot perform function because serial number [child serial number] and serial number [container serial number] have different statuses or would have different statuses after updating. Parent and child serial numbers cannot have different statuses. The child serial number's current parent container has a status different from the new parent container.
