How a Pharmaceutical Manufacturer links a 3PL that does not own any TraceLink serialization app

These tasks describe the steps for a Pharmaceutical Manufacturer to successfully establish and configure a Link with a 3PL that does not own any TraceLink serialization apps.

Step 1: Add Partner Information

Add the 3PL's company and location information to Master Data Exchange and Company Administration.

  1. Go to Master Data Exchange > Partner.
  2. Select the Add Partner Company button.

and

  1. Go to Company Administration > Partners.
  2. Select the Add Partner button.

    Identifiers added here must match Partner Master Data, and must be added at the same level as the Link (i.e. if the 3PL is linked at the company level, all identifiers are added at the company level). A GLN identifier should be added for the company and an SGLN identifier should be added for each location, if necessary.

Step 2: Enable the Workflow

Enable an event workflow to prompt TraceLink to send commissioning, aggregation, and shipping EPCIS events when product is transferred.

  1. Go to Company Administration > Workflow.
  2. Enable one of the following Events with the a Resulting Action of Generate SOM Serialized Shipment Message and a Recipient System of Ship To Party:
    • Product Shipped - Transfer – If the company uses TraceLink as its System of Record.
    • ESM Product Shipped - Transfer – If the company uses an external serial number management system as its System of Record.

Step 3: Add the 3PL to Serialized Operations Manager

Invite the 3PL to link to Serialized Operations Manager to exchange shipment messages with them.

The 3PL can send asynchronous Serialized Operations Manager messages and check the status of those messages in Info Exchange but not access the Serialized Operations Manager UI.

  1. Go to Management > Applications.
  2. Select the Partners icon () in the Actions column for the correct app.
  3. Select Partner.

Step 4: Accept the Pharmaceutical Manufacturer's Link Invitation

Accept the Pharmaceutical Manufacturer's Serialized Operations Manager invitation.

  • Go to Application Settings > Link Invitations.

Step 5: Configure Maps

A TraceLink Network Success Manager (NSM) configures the maps required to exchange shipping event data through asynchronous messages.

  1. Go to Company Administration > Info Exchange.
  2. Select the Configure Info Exchange Profiles button.
  3. Select the Update Profile Settings link in the Actions column.
  4. Add a row to the Transactional Maps CSV file for the following maps:
    • TL_EPCIS_SOM_ShipmentEvent_OB
    • SOM_SHIPMENT_EVENT

Step 6: Configure the Link to the Pharmaceutical Manufacturer's App

The identifiers in the 3PL's Link to Serialized Operations Manager must match the identifiers that the Pharmaceutical Manufacturer uses in that app.

  1. Go to Company Administration > Services.
  2. Select the Configure Subscription link in the Actions column for the correct Link.

    Make sure that the Shipment Event on the "Transaction Delivery Rules" tab is enabled to automatically deliver messages.
