Import List

Overview

Select the Import List link in the View Serial Number Templates screen.

  • Import a list of serial numbers to the repository for the template's future use.

    For China EDMC and AI(00) serial numbers, upload up to 4 million values. For AI(01)+(21) serial numbers, upload up to 2.7 million values.

    • Template Information

    • Packaging Code - Packaging codes are numeric values that correspond to the packaging of a particular product (e.g. bottle of 100, blister-pack of 25, etc.). Displays the Packaging Code of the template. If Nordic/National Trade Item Number. (NTIN) is selected, this is a type-ahead field that shows NTIN packaging codes from Master Data (existing codes do not appear).

    • Description - A written description of the Packaging Code. Displays one of the following:

      • Packaging Codes with English Descriptions display.

      • Packaging Codes without English descriptions display the written description from the first language code (in alphabetical order) in that language. For example, if the first language code in Master Data is Spanish, the written description displays in Spanish.

    • Assign Serial Numbers To - The packaging location that the serial numbers are assigned to.

      Serial numbers assigned to the General Pool can be exchange with multiple packaging locations.

    • Packaging Code attributes - These attributes contain additional information relating to the serial numbers. The attributes vary according to the packaging code.

      • For GTIN-14, the (GS1) Company Prefix and Filter Value display on 2 lines.
      • For NTIN, dashes (--) display.
      • For GS1 Company Prefix, the Filter Value and Extension Digit display on 2 lines.
      • For CN-ResCode, the CN-Subtype and Code Version display on 2 lines.

    • Encoding Type - The encoding type options are one of the following:

      • AI(01)+AI(21) - Indicates a 14-digit Global Trade Item Number that identifies a shipping container. (GTIN-14) serial number (14 digits) or a (20 digit serial number),
      • AI(00) - Indicates an 14-digit Global Trade Item Number that identifies a shipping container.Serial Shipping Container Code (SSCC) serial number 18 digits long.
      • CN-EDMC - Indicates an Electronic Drug-Monitoring Code (20-digit serial number) for China.

    Serial Number List

    • Serial Number List - A CSV file containing a list of serial numbers to import

      The format of the import file varies according to the type of serial number. For example, in China the Electronic Drug-Monitoring Code (CN-EDMC) format differs for Essential Drug List (EDL) drugs and Non-essential Drug List (non-EDL) drugs.

      The following sections describe:

      • Differences in each format.
      • Validation rules for each format.
      • Sample files for each format.

      The AI(00) serial number file formats contain a header row with serial-number attributes followed by subsequent rows with serial numbers (one per row).

      The header row must contain the following elements separated by commas without spaces:

      • Packaging Level Item Code - This is the GS1 Company Prefix associated with the AI(00) serial number.
      • Filter Value - This is the Filter Value associated with the AI(00) serial number that indicates the packaging level, such as Pallet or Mixed Case.

      The CN-EDMC EDL serial number file formats contain a header row with attributes about the serial numbers, followed by subsequent rows that contain the list of serial numbers, one per row.

      The header row must contain the following elements separated by pound signs (#) without spaces:

      • Application Code - Indicates the package level (e.g. 1, 0).

        The Application Code corresponds to the Code Level entered in Product Master Data.

      • Resource Code - Identifies the product within the China Surveillance Code (CN-ResCode) (e.g. 30010, 38815).
      • Subtype Code - 10 digit product sub-classification code that distinguishes different preparation and package specifications of the same drug (example: 4001010001).
      • Package Ratio (e.g. 1).
      • Starting Serial Number - The serial number component of the first Surveillance Code in the file (7 or 9 digits depending on drug type) (e.g. 000000000, 000322400).
      • Ending Serial Number - The serial number component of the last Surveillance Code in the file (7 or 9 digits depending on drug type) (e.g. 00000499, 000322499).
      • Code Version - Product code version number that identifies the pack level (e.g. 81, 88).

      • Packaging Level Item Code - The GTIN-14 associated with the AI(01)+AI(21) serial number

    Available Operations

    TraceLink imports the serial numbers and checks that there are no duplicates.
    1. Select the Choose File button.
    2. Locate the file with the serial numbers.
    3. Select the Submit button.

      The View Serial Number Templates screen displays with a confirmation message.

      Download the list of serial numbers on the View Import History screen.

    Error Messages

    Error Message Description
    The file contains no serial numbers. The file contains a valid header but no serial numbers.
    File is not a text file. The file is a binary file.
    The file could not be uploaded because it exceeds the maximum limit of 104 MB. The file is greater than 104 MB in size.
    File contains more than 4,000,000 rows. The file size check succeeds, but TraceLink detects the file has greater than 4 million serial numbers.
    Serial number [serial number] occurs more than once in the file. Duplicate serial numbers are found within the file.
