ESM Receipt Overview
The Receipt message enables Owners to communicate the receipt of a transfer, return, or sales shipment. This message communicates the transfer of product from an internal enterprise serialization system of record to TraceLink's Serialized Operations Manager. Regulations vary by country in terms of the information required for these message types, e.g. one country may have more restrictive requirements for an Export Sale (a sale distribution made from one country to another), while another country may put more emphasis on In Country Transfers (a distribution made within the same country).
Serialized Operations Manager Owners who receive inbound transfer shipments can configure their instance of Serialized Operations Manager to automatically receive transfer shipments without having to submit a Receipt message. When configured this way, the system automatically receives the inbound transfer shipments without any additional action. All serial numbers associated with the transfer shipment are put into the available state.
Additionally, Owners can configure Serialized Operations Manager to specifically include or exclude the receipt of transfer shipments from specific countries (e.g. an Owner can configure Serialized Operations Manager to only automatically receive transfer shipments with a Ship To Country Code of China or to automatically receive all transfer shipments except those with a Ship To Country Code of China).
This message uses the Park and Retry functionality. If a prerequisite condition for this message has not been met, TraceLink stops processing the task, returns the task to the queue, and then tries to process the task again every 15 minutes for up to two hours.
