Add Device

Overview

Select Add Device on the Devices screen.

Register a new device on the current TraceLink environment so that a Company Administrator can install the mobile app on the device.

Device Information

  • Unique Device ID (UDID) – The unique 32-digit TraceLink-generated ID for the device. It consists of 1 group of 8 hexadecimal digits, followed by 3 groups of 4 hexadecimal digits each, followed by 1 group of 12 hexadecimal digits separated by hyphens (e.g. 123A4567-B89C-12D3-F456-426614174000). Acceptable characters are numbers 0-9 and letters A-F.
  • Activation Code – The TraceLink-generated 8-character, alphabetic, and case-sensitive string that is paired with the specific device.
  • Name – The unique name of the device. Must be unique across all names defined for a single location. Maximum 50 characters, with no spaces. TraceLink accepts alphanumeric characters in addition to the following: _ . , @ / : # -
  • Identifier – The unique Media Access Control (MAC) address of the device. Must be 6 sets of 2 characters separated by colons or hyphens (e.g. 00:23:68:CF:A4:D8 or 00-23-68-CF-A4-D8). Acceptable characters are numbers 0-9 and letters A-F.
  • Type – The type of the device.

  • Port – The firewall port that the individual device uses to communicate with the TraceLink Life Sciences Cloud.
    • 8883 – (default) The standard port that the device uses to communicate with the TraceLink Life Sciences Cloud.
    • 443 – An alternate port that companies can use to communicate with the TraceLink Life Sciences Cloud if the company blocks port 8883.
  • Location – The name and identifier of the location where the device is used. The identifier must match the location identifier value entered in Master Data Exchange.

    The location identifier must be unique across all locations at the company, so identifiers with the following types do not display in the type-ahead: AR - CUIT, DE - IFA REG NUM, IN - IEC, IN - PAN, IN - TIN, RU - Account Number, RU - INN Foreign, RU - INN Individual, RU - INN Local, and RU - KPP.

  • Country Code – The ISO Alpha 2-digit country code of the default market that Smart Inventory Tracker reports serial numbers to (required if Serial Number Event Manager is Default - Smart Event Manager or Smart Event Manager).
  • Serial Number Event Manager – The serial number event manager that Smart Inventory Tracker integrates with.
    • Default - Serialized Operations Manager – The device can integrate with Serialized Operations Manager or Smart Event Manager, and Serialized Operations Manager is the default integration when logging in (i.e. users with applicable permissions can access both Warehouse Operations and Event Reporting, and Warehouse Operations displays by default after log in).
    • Default - Smart Event Manager – The device can integrate with Serialized Operations Manager or Smart Event Manager, and Smart Event Manager is the default integration when logging in (i.e. users with applicable permissions can access both Warehouse Operations and Event Reporting, and Event Reporting displays by default after log in).
    • Serialized Operations Manager – The device can integrate with Serialized Operations Manager only (i.e. users can access Warehouse Operations only).
    • Smart Event Manager – The device can integrate with Smart Event Manager only (i.e. users can access Event Reporting only).
  • Active – When selected, the device allows users to log in.
  • Repeat function again – When selected, the screen refreshes after selecting Submit to register another device. All fields except for Name and Identifier default to the same values entered for the current device.All fields except for Name, Unique Device ID (UDID), and Activation Code default to the same values entered for the current device. New values are automatically populated for Unique Device ID (UDID) and Activation Code.

Available Actions

  1. Enter a Name in the text field.
  2. Select a Type from the drop-down.
  3. Enter an Identifier in the text field.
  4. Select a Make from the drop-down.
  5. Select a Model from the drop-down.
  6. Select a Port from the drop-down.
  7. Select a Location from the drop-down.
  8. Select a Status from the drop-down.
  9. Enter a Country Code in the type-ahead field.
  10. Select a Serial Number Event Manager from the drop-down.
  11. Select the Active checkbox.
  12. Select the Repeat function again checkbox.

  13. Select Submit.

    • If the Repeat Function Again checkbox is not selected: The Devices screen displays, and the new device displays in the table.
    • If the Repeat Function Again checkbox is selected: The screen refreshes with blank fields.

Errors

Error Message Description
Enter a Name. Name is a required field.
Invalid characters entered. Spaces are not allowed. The Name cannot contain a space.
Enter a unique device Name for the location. Each device registered at a single location must have a unique Name.
Invalid characters entered. The Name must contain only alphanumeric characters in addition to the following: _ . , @ / : # -
Enter an Identifier. Identifier is a required field.
Invalid Identifier entered. The Identifier must be 6 sets of 2 characters separated by colons or hyphens (e.g. 00:23:68:CF:A4:D8 or 00-23-68-CF-A4-D8). Acceptable characters are numbers 0-9 and letters A-F.
[Identifier value] has already been assigned to another device. The Identifier must be unique across all devices registered with TraceLink.
Enter a Type. Type is a required field.
Enter a Make. Make is a required field.
Enter a Model. Model is a required field.
Enter a Serial Number Event Manager. Serial Number Event Manager is a required field.
Enter a Country Code. Country Code is a required field if Serial Number Event Manager is Default - Smart Event Manager or Smart Event Manager.
Try again later. If the issue persists, contact TraceLink Support. Company Administration could not connect to save the device. Try again later.
