Aggregation Update Overview (XML)

The Aggregation Update message enables Pharmaceutical Manufacturer Owners or 3PL Partners to report aggregated or disaggregated product asynchronously. This message allows for the reporting of both aggregation and disaggregation events simultaneously. TraceLink processes the aggregation and disaggregation events according to the EventDateTime of each event, not in the order the events are sent, allowing parties to send aggregation and disaggregation events as they occur.

TraceLink has implemented a “Park and Retry” capability by which the system checks to see if the prerequisite message has arrived and, if so, processes the message. If TraceLink cannot process the aggregation or disaggregation action (e.g. waiting for another disaggregation action or waiting for a serial number to be commissioned), TraceLink stops the event and retries it every 15 minutes for up to a two-hour period. This provides the opportunity for the prerequisite message to arrive and allows TraceLink to process the messages in order. If the prerequisite message does not arrive after two hours, TraceLink generates an error.
